Always Something to Do
Our day begins with the first crow of the rooster.
First, we take care of the animals in the barn — feeding and milking the cows, feeding the calves, mucking out the stalls, letting the chickens outside, and much more.
In return, we get fresh milk and eggs for ourselves and our guests.
The rest of the day’s work depends on the season and the weather:
In spring, we care for and fertilize the meadows and pastures.
In summer, we cut and dry the hay that will feed our cows and calves during winter.
In autumn, we harvest the honey from our bees.
In winter, we chop firewood for our wood-burning stove to keep the house nice and warm.
These are just a few of the many varied and interesting — but sometimes also tiring — tasks that make up our everyday life.
But one thing’s for sure: it’s never boring here!
You are very welcome to watch us at work —
please just ask beforehand, and don’t enter the barn or farm buildings without permission.
